Training your dog may seem very tricky, but the trick is very simple. Teaching your dog how to sit is like rewarding him. But this time, he gets to learn something aside from being rewarrded.

Rewarding a dog is very important when teaching him a new trick. A play, a toy, a praise, a pet, or a snack  can be a very good reward.

So how are you going to teach a dog to sit. Below are the steps:

1st: You need to catch his attention by calling his name.

2nd: Have an eye-to-eye contact with your dog by emphasizing your eyes to him. You may put your hand beside your eyes so he knows you are empasizing it.

3rd: Now, let your dog know that you have something on your hand. A snack is a good start to catch both his attention and interest.

4th. Lower your hand with snack to the dog’s eye level. it should be slow and with proper distance. Too fast may casue the dog to grab it, and too high will amek him jump for it.

5th. The tendency is, he will follow your hand while raising his head up sniffing your hand. This will make him an instinct to sit. Do not give the snack yet until he finally sit. When he started to sit, make sure that you say the word “sit”. So he will know that he did something good that made him rewarded.

6th. In case he won’t sit, try to pet his lower back, right before his tail and he will surely sit.

That’s the basic of teaching your dog how to sit. very simple and easy. Do 6 to 8 sessions per day.
